Department of Bioinformatics
Bioinformatics is a rapidly growing interdisciplinary field involving biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, pharmaceutical & computer sciences. It is widely used in diagnostics, drug discovery, modeling, AI techniques, etc.
Established in 2011 (as a part of Centre for Biological Sciences), the Department became independent in 2018. It's the only one in Bihar and among the few in Eastern India promoting Bioinformatics research and education.
The department offers MSc and PhD programs in Bioinformatics, training students in machine learning, computational modeling, and drug design with real lab exposure.
